The Gunter Cabin located in Fontana Village was built by Jesse Gunter in 1875. This is a beautiful scene during any season. The snow just made this a beautiful picture. However, he and his wife loss two young children during a really hard winter due to illness. They were buried in a double handmade wooden coffin that he made from boards from the cabin's floor. They and their mother are buried in the Welch Cemetery at Fontana Village Resort.
